A few entries ago, I promised I would detail the worm process. Now that after two months the worms aren't dead, a festering fly-ridden mess, or some other type of disaster, I will happily chronicle the worm adventure.
So I ordered the condo of worm bins, called a Can-O-Worms. Get it? I first had to line the bin with newspaper, then soaked something called coil in water, then added newspaper and food scraps, and then added worms.
So far everything has gone great, except for one problem which is that we create too many food scraps for the little guys. I am hoping they reproduce and can eat more soon. Now I'm one of those urban dorks that carts compost around looking for willing receptacles.
I've become a bit of a worm zealot, I will gladly admit. It's been incredible easy and a great conversation starter. I will willingly fully admit that I'm not saving the world this way, but If I have tp use environmental concern as an excuse to play with worms in the dirt, so be it.
